2021 AYFL Summer Camp

What is AYFL summer camp?

  • AYFL summer camp is a great opportunity for players to practice and prepare for the fall season. Camp will take a developmental approach; it is not about winning or losing, but gaining the skills that will prepare you to be successful in the upcoming seasons. During this camp, your child will be able to work with experienced coaches including retired NFL players, coaches from the Ashburn high schools, and, potentially, some special guests! We will be announcing who will be at camp as the camp approaches, but we are so excited about what we have in store!
  • Everyday, your child will be able to learn skills including stances, tackling, pass routes, and offensive/defensive plays, and will prepare for an end-of-the-week scrimmage. The scrimmage will take place on the last day of camp (June 25th). This scrimmage is for fun, not for competition. Parents will be welcome to watch the scrimmage.
  • Lastly, we will be having an award ceremony where coaches will be awarding players who stood out performance wise, and improved over the week.

When and where is camp?

  • Summer camp will start on June 21st, 2021 and end on June 25th, 2021.
  • Camp will be held at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, VA (address: 43100 Hay Road, Ashburn, VA, 20147).
  • Players will be expected to report to SBHS by 7:00AM and camp will continue until 2:00PM daily.
  • If you are unable to pick up your child at 2:00PM, we will be providing aftercare at extra cost. To sign up for this, you will need to register for it.

Who can participate in camp?

  • It will be open to all players who will be in kindergarten to ninth grade in the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Players do not have to be affiliated with the AYFL to participate.

Where can I register and how much will it cost?

  • Registration will be open on April 12th, and will close on June 21st, 2021.
  • You can register using this link: http://ashburn-youth-football-league.sportssignup.com/site/

  • Optional afternoon care will need to be registered separately and will cost $150 per child.
  • If you are registered for the Fall 2021 season, you can get $50-off camp registration fees. The promo code will be at the end of the confirmation receipt when you register for the fall 2021 season. If you do not see it, email us to receive the promo code prior to registering.
  • Shirts and pinnies will be provided; when registering, be sure to fill out your child's t-shirt size.
  • Equipment (helmet and shoulder pads) will also be provided by AYFL. You will need to pick up equipment from the AYFL equipment shed. Dates for equipment pick-up will be provided. If you are unable to pick up equipment ahead of camp, we will be able to provide equipment on the day of camp at extra cost.

What safety protocols will be in place?

  • There will be an on-staff trainer at camp that will be available to help players if they get injured or feel sick.
  • All players will be subject to temperature checks at the start of each day.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at each field, and at the entrance to the cafeteria before and after lunch.
  • Counselors will be stationed at every field and will ensure that each player is following the proper COVID-19 protocol; this includes, but is not limited to, keeping personal belongings 6 feet apart, drinking out of their own water bottles, and using hand sanitizer.
  • Water will be provided, however we do encourage players to bring their own.

What will my child need to bring to camp?

  • Water
  • Sunscreen
  • Bugs Spray
  • Mask
  • Football pants
  • Mouth piece
  • Tennis shoes or rubber football cleats.
  • If your child is staying for the afternoon care, we encourage that you bring a change of clothes.
  • *Note: outside temperatures will be high during camp; we encourage that your child prepares for that by bringing what they feel they need to stay hydrated and cool.

I would like to volunteer, what can I do?

  • We are looking for volunteers to fulfill the roles of counselors. Counselors are crucial in helping the coaching staff by providing water to players, walking players to different fields/the cafeteria, and aiding players on and off the field. If you are interested in becoming a counselor, please email us at board@ayfl.org.
  • If you are interested in volunteering by coaching, please email us at board@ayfl.org.

I have questions, where can I ask them?

  • If you have questions, please don't hesitate to email us at board@ayfl.org.
