AYFL Summer Contact Camps
AYFL will be sponsoring Summer Contact Football Camps, coached by former NFL players, NCAA coaches, and the staffs of the three successful Ashburn High School programs (pictures of confirmed attendees here). Early Bird rates of $449 will be available until 5/15. Flexible payment options (over a four month period) will be available to registrants. You can register for both camps for $599. More information on the camps is available in the Camps section of this web site. You can register for the camps at www.sportability.com/ayfl.
Practice and Schedule Information
Practices will begin August 4, and will be helmets only for the first week. Practices will be Monday through Friday for the first week, and Monday through Thursday for the rest of the summer. Each of these practices will be 2 hours. Once school begins, practices will be three nights a week for 90 minutes. D League will practice three nights per week during the summer, and two nights per week once school begins, for 90 minutes per practice. The AYFL Jamboree will be held on August 23rd, and will provide all teams an opportunity to scrimmage another league opponent. The regular season begins Labor Day Weekend with the first games being held on August 30th - please plan accordingly!
Tackle Coaching Certification Required for 2008 Season
In an effort to ensure that all AYFL players are getting the best possible instruction on the field, AYFL will require that all coaches, including assistants, get certified through USA Football. All certifications must be completed before the first tryouts in June. The certification will be completed on line, and coaches can access the site and register for the certification by visiting the USA Football site. The link to the actual registration page is https://www.usafootball.com/users/register_admin.
New D League Begins Play in 2008
AYFL will now have a D League (Ankle Biters) for 6 and 7 year olds that want to play tackle. D League will be a very controlled, developmental league with modified rules that is designed to teach, develop, and ultimately prepare 6 and 7 year olds for C League. Those who wish to play flag football can register with NOVA Flag.
